About Us

If education is always conceived along the same antiquated lines of a mere transmission of knowledge, there is little to be hoped from it in the bettering of a child’s future. With the aim of not only transmitting knowledge but individual’s overall development, GNPS, Model Town Extension was set up on April, 1976 by the great visionaries and entrepreneurs Giani Bhagat Singh Ji and S. Jagat Singh Ji. From a mere strength of 224 students in the year 1976, GNPS can now boast of being an alma mater of more than 2500 students.

They were clear in their objectives yet practical, strong and full of compassion, proud of their national heritage imbued with international vision transcending regional and parochial consideration. They have indeed left behind a rich legacy and posterity which is being gratefully remembered.

The significant contributions made by them in promoting better awareness of population and development, environment, apartheid and human survival issues. Giani Bhagat Singh Ji had imparted knowledge and education not only to the affluent section of Ludhiana but also those coming from the humble background. The tree of knowledge which he planted years ago is bearing its fruit in the shape of students who are imbibing the spirit of courage, drive and integrity. Today his legacy is being carried forward by his son Sardar Jasbir Singh Ji.

GNPS, Model Town is one of the few schools of the city affiliated to the ICSE.

Our vision is to educate and enable the students to reach and expand their potential and to prepare them to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of the society. To generate integrated focus on academics, services, supports and opportunities that will lead to improve student’s learning, stronger family bonding and healthier communities.

Our mission is:

  • To celebrate diversity and encourage companionship among the students.
  • To provide freedom and space for individual expression and growth to become self – reliant, self motivated and confident human being.
  • To encourage the child at the heart of learning to become a great leader through understanding, knowledge and skill.
  • To provide exposure to latest technology and learning techniques and interaction with the best of resource people is the prime concern.

The school provides an infrastructure which is conducive to learning, stimulating and challenging environment which motivates the students to aim high and excel. The school also draws its inspirations from the lives of great Sikh Gurus.
